Investigations revealed that one of the victims was first raped before being killed.
Police in Kayunga District are investigating circumstances under which two people were killed in two separate incidents over the weekend.
The Kayunga DPC, Mr Bob Kagarura, identified the first victim as Monica Chandiru, 30, a resident of Bukolooto trading centre, a Kayunga town suburb. According to the police, Chandiru was waylaid as she returned home from Jose Disco Hall in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Preliminary investigations and a postmortem indicate that the deceased was first gang-raped before being killed. “After raping her, the gang used an object to pull out her intestines, which were found besides her naked body,” the police boss said.
According to an eye witness, the deceased was seen in company of a male friend and “the duo drunk before Chandiru tried to flee the disco hall.” “It is suspected that it is this man and his accomplices that killed her in revenge of her attempted flee after drinking the man’s beer,” a source said.
In the second incident in Kangulumira Town, James Ddungu, a security guard at Kangulumira Deliverance Church, was found dead on Thursday morning. His body was found in a chair inside the church.
It is suspected that he could have been strangled or died of natural causes. Kayunga RDC Oyaa Nahori expressed shock over the murders and urged locals to be vigilant and report suspected criminals to police. “All those involved in the criminal acts will be hunted down and charged,” Mr Nahori vowed.
