Two pupils, head teacher die in motor accident

Two pupils and the head teacher of Bright Future Nursery and Primary School have been confirmed dead while 21 others injured following a Wednesday morning accident that occurred at Busobolongo village in Lwamata Sub County in Kiboga District along Hoima-Kampala Road.
The pupils of the school located in Kikonda town in Kyankwanzi district were traveling to Kampala in a taxi registration number UAZ 482C.
The school authorities said the pupils were traveling for a tour of Entebbe International Airport, Entebbe Zoo and Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Mengo.

The head teacher Tadeo Twisenge and a primary one pupil God Mukoke,9, died on the spot while Latifa Kabanda,9, a Primary three pupil died shortly after being admitted at Kiboga Hospital.
According to the Wamala Region Police spokesperson Mr Norbert Ochom, the accident was caused by reckless driving.
“Seventeen pupils sustained serious injuries while four others got minor injuries,” Mr Ochom said.
The injured pupils are admitted at Kiboga Hospital where they are receiving medication.
Some of the injured include Allan Katabi and Brian Semigo who are both in Primary five.

According to eyewitnesses and Police, the accident occurred at about 5:45am when the taxi which was carrying the pupils knocked a truck that was parked on the roadside. The Canter truck was loaded with charcoal.
“The driver was over speeding and seems not to have expected anything in the road. When he saw the parked truck, he panicked and tried to brake but it was too late,”Ochom said.
According to Mr Ochom, the taxi had 25 passengers, yet it’s licensed to carry on 14.
The wreckage of the taxi was towed to Kiboga central police station as investigations are conducted.
