KAMPALA
Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which two people were shot dead by security guards attached to private security companies in Kampala on Sunday.
One person was shot dead around William Street at Bamako Guest House when a security guard at Diamond Trust Bank ATM machine shot at an unidentified woman who had allegedly refused to pay money for parking.
Another incident happened at Shamba complex on Kyagwe Road in
Central Division Kampala at around 6am when a private security guard shot dead a man he suspected to be a thief.

“We arrested the two suspects who are currently in our custody at Central Police Station waiting to be charged in court with murder offences” said the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango.
Mr Onyango said the bodies of the deceased persons were taken to Mulago mortuary as investigations into the cause of their alleged murder continue.
The Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kampala South Jacob Opolot while addressing Journalists at Kajjansi Police Station recently accused private security firms of poor management of their personnel which has led to increased crimes by the guards.
