KOLOLO

Two suspected thugs, who allegedly attempted to break into a bank near Kololo Independence Grounds, have been shot dead by security guards.
Kampala Metropolitan Police East commander, Hajji Siraje Bakaleke, confirmed the shooting but said he didn’t readily have detailed information.
“I am aware of the shooting of two people. I have sent there detectives to get information and I will get back to you soon,” Hajji Bakaleke said.
Details of the suspects’ identity are still scanty.
The shooting comes days after the police shot dead five suspected robbers and arrested three in Busega a Kampala suburb on Friday. The suspects were trying to break into a supermarket at night.
Last month, police shot dead two armed robbers in Kasese District.
A Fort night ago, police arrested six of its officers and nine civilians who had stolen building materials at the Entebbe Express Highway road construction site. The stolen materials were destined for a shop in Nateete, a Kampala suburb. Violent crimes are often high during the Christmas season, especially on highways and in shops because of the boost in sales due to the festive season.
Ms Grace Akullo, the criminal investigation and intelligence director, has previously warned business people of an increase in incidences of robberies in the festive season.
In 2013, a total of 3,620 cases of both aggravated and simple robbery were registered, compared to 4,194 cases in 2012. Of the 3,620 cases, 1,035 included use of firearms.

The bodies of the deceased- both male- are still lying in a pool of blood at the scene. Police has cordoned off the area but they are yet to give a statement.
