KAMPALA: The Uganda National Roads Authority (Unra) has suspended two senior managers for alleged irregularities in procurement.
The Unra Executive Director, Ms Allen Kagina, in an email sent out to senior management last Friday, said the director of procurement, Mathias Ofumbi and legal officer William Tumwine were suspended for one month in accordance with the decision of the board.
“This is to let you know that two senior staff were today asked to leave office for one month on suspension pending investigations in matters related to their functions,” Ms Kagina’s email to Unra staff reads in part.

“You are urged to keep your directorates functioning efficiently during this difficult period. Please supervise closely to ensure uninterrupted service to our clients,” she added.
Ms Kagina further said the head of contracts and claims, Ms Esther Kusiima, would in the meantime act as director of procurement during the suspension period.
