UPC secretary general dead

A senior Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party member, Edward Ssegganyi has died.
Ssegganyi who has been the UPC secretary general in the faction led by Mr Jimmy Akena, died on Monday at his home in Mityana District after battling cancer for some time.

“He was discharged on Saturday from Mulago Cancer Institute and he went home but unfortunately he has died,” Mr Michael Osinde, the faction’s spokesperson told this reporter when contacted on phone.
“We will surely miss him. He was a man who wanted dialogue during our political disagreements,” Mr Osinde added.
Mr Joseph Bossa who leads the other faction of UPC said that he learnt of Sseganyi’s sickness about three weeks ago and it was sad, despite their political differences.
Sseganyi has been secretary general for two years.
