Uganda Christian University has dismissed allegations that Uganda's youngest MP, Proscovia Alengot Oromait had been discontinued from the university.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor in Charge of Academic Affairs at the university Rev. Canon Dr. Alex Kagume Mugisha says they have never discontinued the MP.

This comes after stories on social media that the 21- year- old Usuk County legislator had been discontinued from her studies due to alleged absenteeism.

"This is personal information. As the university, no staff is allowed to reveal a student's academic record to the public. As far as I know, she is still a student of Mass Communication at this institution," Dr. Kagume said.

Dr Monica Chibita, the head of the Mass Communication Department at UCU declined to comment on the matter saying it was outside her jurisdiction.

"I am not ready and I can never discuss anybody's academic record especially with the media," Dr. Chibita said.
Alengot who joined UCU in 2012 is now in her second year.

Daily Monitor failed to get a comment from the MP since she is reportedly out of the country.
