Uganda has been chosen to host the Rotary International Presidential African Youth Conference, the first of its kind.
In a news release, Rotary Club of Uganda indicated that the theme of the youth conference to be held from November 4 to 5 at Hotel African in Kampala, will be “Engage rotary, change lives: taking charge of the future”. Thousands of youth from across Africa are expected to attend.
Five conferences will be hosted in different continents, targeting young professionals, youth, scholars, community activists and rotary members.
Mr Emmanuel Katongole, the Rotary International District 9211 president, said their main focus is the youth who are the future pillars of the world.
“We want to empower them and be able to meet the challenging moments of their generations. We expect about 2,000 youths from all over Africa, but mostly from Uganda as a host,” Mr Katongole said at the weekend. To honour the conference will be Mr Ron D. Burton, the Rotary International president.
