Ugandans to get Pakistani citizenship

The dual citizenship will help Ugandans enjoy same perks as Pakistani nationals.

Kampala- Pakistan is considering Uganda as the second African country after Egypt, to get a dual citizenship status, the Commercial Counsellor Amir Mohyaddin, said yesterday.

“Pakistan is in advanced stages of including Uganda on a list of 16 other countries to benefit from dual citizenship to improve the cordial relationship between the two countries. We recognise Uganda as a big partner to Pakistan and that is why we are to offer dual citizenship,” he told journalists in Kampala.

Speaking at a news conference at Kati Kati Restaurant to announce a Pakistani exhibition scheduled for February 26 to March 1, 2015 in Kampala, Mr Mohyaddin, said the dual citizenship deal is to be announced in Pakistani capital Karachi soon.

Uganda National Chamber of Commerce official Kasim Omar urged Ugandans to turn for the exhibition for quality and reasonably priced products from Pakistan.
