Rakai- Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged people in Kooki County, Rakai District to unite and enable the area to develop like other parts of Buganda.

Mr Mayiga said Buganda and Kooki chiefdom are inseparable because Kooki allied with the former during the reigns of Ssekabaka Jjunju and Suuna to fight Abaziba of Tanzania who were frequently attacking Ababiito (royal clan) of Kooki - a relationship that needs to be strengthened.

“Whoever wants to move fast moves alone, but if one wants to go far, they go with others,” Mr Mayiga said, implying that Kooki would be better off moving with Buganda Kingdom than pushing for secession.

Mr Mayiga made the remarks during his two-day tour of Kooki County on Tuesday.

The Buganda premier started his tour at Lwanda Sub-county headquarters where he was received by Rakai District chairman Benon Mugabi and a host of local leaders including former Kooki prime minister Gertrude Ssebugwawo.

During the two-day tour, more than Shs64 million was raised towards development projects in Buganda.
