VIDEO: Mufti Kayongo’s body arrives

The body of fallen Kibuli-based Supreme Mufti Zubair Kayongo has arrived at Entebbe Airport.
At around 9am on Friday, the Kenya airways Aircraft carrying the remains of the Mufti touched Entebbe International Airport.
Present at the air port to receive the remains were the relatives of the Mufti, a number of Muslim leaders and politicians who included the ‘grandfather’ of Muslim community in Uganda Prince Kassim Nakibinge, Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, Kawempe North MP Latiff Sebagala, Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi, city councilor Shifra Lukwago, among others.
The body has been taken to his home in Kagoma, Kawempe division, Kampala by Uganda funeral service which is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Thereafter, it will be taken to Kibuli Mosque for prayers before burial today.
Sheikh Kayongo, 83, died on Thursday at Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es salaam, Tanzania where he had gone to join fellow top Muslim leaders for a convention.

Daily Monitor’s Stephen Kafeero says Sheikh Kayongo’s remains have arrived at his home where a mammoth of mourners is waiting to view the body. From here, it will be taken to Kibuli Mosque , where President Yoweri Museveni is also expected to pay his last respects.

According to the deputy presidential press secretary, Ms Linda Nabusayi, the president is heading to Kibuli Mosque to commiserate with the Muslim community during the prayers for Sheikh Kayongo.
