The Vice President, Mr Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, will be key note speaker as Ugandans in Nordic States hold their Business Forum in Helsinki, Finland.

The 4th Nordic Business Forum which will take place from August 30 to September 2 under the theme: “strengthening Uganda’s competitiveness for sustainable wealth creation, employment and inclusive growth,” is one of the events expected in the four day convention that also includes a fashion exhibition, matchmaking and networking exhibition and a tourism exhibition in Stockholm, Sweden.

Uganda’s ambassador to the Nordics, Mr Zaake Wanume Kibedi, said the business forum will be used to engage Ugandans living in the Nordic countries and potential foreign investors with an aim to expand their growth and business to Uganda to establish a strong business relationship with the visiting Uganda business delegation in the private and public sector.

“At the end of it all, I want our brother and sisters to take back home whatever they can pick up from here, be it knowledge, skills or capital, to contribute to the development of our mother land,” he added.

Other speakers at the forum  will be;  The Executive Director Uganda Investment Authority, Mr  Frank Sebbowa,  President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce & Indutry (UNCCI), Ms Olive Kigongo, The coordinator for The Uganda Nordic Diaspora Investment Initiative (UNDII),Mr Peter Kalanzi and officials from the Finish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

WHAT ARE THE NORDIC STATES

The Nordic countries are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. They consist of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, including their associated territories; Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the Åland Islands.

In January 2013, the region had a population of around 26 million people with Iceland having approximately 300,000 people, 9million in Sweden, 5million in Finland, Norway and Denmark.

The Nordics have over 1000 registered Ugandans living there.
