AMUDAT-A group of leaders hailing from the South Pokot in Kenya have appealed to Ugandans to vote back President Museveni to office come 2016 general elections.

Mr Joseph Akoule, the director of Sikom organisation, who led a Kenyan delegation to Uganda that traveled to Amudat District, to attend the Pokot Culture Day last Wednesday, said Mt Museveni has contributed to development in the country and Africa.

“President Museveni is a hero of the Great Lakes Region and we must guard him jealously by making him stay in power because we are peaceful,” he said.

Mr Akoule said President Museveni has been able to disarm the Karimojong warriors and created a conducive environment for the pastoralists’ community and investors. “We, the Kenyans, are very happy with President Museveni because he has rescued our Kenya pastoralists, who are now grazing their animals in Uganda but if he was a bad President, we would not have been allowed to settle in Uganda,” he said.

Celebrations
The Pokot Culture Day was celebrated under the theme: “Accelerating our collective efforts to end female genital mutilation, child marriage in Pokot community.”

It was attended by the State Minister for Gender, Ms Rukia Nakadama, and other MPs.
Ms Nakadama urged the Pokot community to shun female genital mutilation practices and take their children to school.

“I know this was your culture but now we are in dot.com era and the practice must stop it,” the minister said.
