Man drowns while swimming in Lake Victoria

KALANGALA - A 27-year-old man has drowned at the shores of Lake Victoria in Kalangala town council where he had gone with some friends for a swim.
Wasswa Muganga who had gone swimming with several of his friends in the Lutoboka bay is said to have drowned about 40 meters away from the shoreline at Pearl Gardens beach hotel.

An eye witness, Suleiman Mbuubi, said Muganda together with three other people went swimming as part of their leisure time on Monday evening but while many of his friends returned, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Each of them was wondering how he had drowned yet he was perceived to be the best swimmer among in the group," Mbuubi indicated.
Police led by the Kalangla marine force and the district police commander, Richard Musisi intensified the search for his body until it was recovered on Tuesday morning.
