Whereas to many mothers the arrival of a new born baby is good news, to a 35-year old woman in Lyantonde, seemed to have re-written her script.
The woman, a resident of Kasese village, in Lyantonde District is suspected to have dumped her newly-born baby into a pit latrine.
The suspect attracted neighbours’ suspicion when she was suddenly seen without a baby, yet she had been pregnant for several months.
One of her neighbours, who said she suspected foul play, visited the suspect’s latrine and was shocked to discover that she had dumped the baby into the pit, which prompted her to contact police.
The woman, who had been arrested by residents as she tried to flee, was later handed to police.
