Woman sets their house ablaze, kills own two children

WAKISO. Shock and grief engulfed residents of Kitezi in Kabaga, Jomay Zone, in Wakiso District when a woman set her matrimonial home ablaze killing two of her children.
Ms Patience Katambara together with her three children reportedly locked herself in a section of the house and set it ablaze on Saturday morning after learning that her husband Mr Happy Tumwesigye had a breast feeding woman.

Ms Katambara, a dealer in second-hand clothes in Owino Market, allegedly learnt of the extra marital affair in the afternoon hours, deciding to committee suicide in the night.
The deceased children were identified as Rodrick Tumwesigye, 7, a Primary Three pupil at Nakasero Primary School and Rennet Tumwesigye, 2. The eldest, Rodrine Tumwesigye and the suspect are receiving treatment at Nakasero Hospital.

Mr Robert Mbaine, the suspect’s in-law, condemned the action and wondered why she never sought their intervention and instead transfer her frustration on innocent children.
According to family members, the deceased children will be laid to rest today in Mitooma District.
Mr Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, confirmed the incident but requested for more time to gather details.
“I need some time to collect information regarding the incident,” Mr Onyango said. Incidents of suicide resulting from infidelity have become rampant and are getting more serious and fatal.
