The Grade II Magistrates Court in Fort Portal has remanded a 30-year-old woman to Kajojo Government Prison for allegedly murdering her co –wife who had given birth to twins.
Court presided over by Justice Atukwase Kamara on Wednesday heard that Rosemary Kamuli of Kijenga Village in Kabarole District killed the victim after learning that she had given birth to twins.
On the day she was killed, the victim is said to have brought the twins home to perform the traditional rituals in line with Batooro culture.
It is also said the suspect waited for their husband to go and but meat before luring her into touring the land.
Disposing of body
Court also heard that Kamuli and her accomplices tied the deceased with ropes, undressed her before hacking her to death.
Prosecution further alleges that after killing her, the suspects carried the body and dumped it in the bush near a shallow well, where the decomposing body was discovered after two weeks of searching.
A postmortem report presented to court showed that the body had deep cuts, one arm and the breasts were missing and that the deceased’s clothes were retrieved from Kamuli’s garden by the police with the help of the suspect’s seven-year-old son.
