Kitgum. Police in Kitgum District are holding a 21-year-old woman for allegedly strangling her 10-month-old disabled son.

The suspect, a resident of Oryang village in Namukora Sub-county reportedly killed her son identified as Daniel Ogenrwot last Friday.

It’s reported that she had given birth to a child with deformities, a condition that upset her. She then strangled the baby and dumped the body in River Pager.

Mr Jimmy Okema, the Aswa Region Police spokesperson, said the suspect has been arrested and is being detained at Kitgum Central Police Station.

In September last year, a 35-year-old teacher at Ogul Primary School, reportedly chopped off the head of her baby identified as Joshua Kipa before dumping the body in a pit-latrine.

A similar incident happened in 2012, when a UPDF soldier killed his three-year-old child and packed the remains in a sack after picking a quarrel with his wife he accused of having sexual affairs with other men.
