Kampala.

The deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Jacob Oulanyah, has said non-governmental organisations such as World Vision, are executing responsibilities that would ordinarily be for government.

Speaking at the launch of celebrations to mark “30 years of World Vision Changing lives” in Kampala on Wednesday, Mr Oulanyah noted that World Vision has been to all problem areas in the country.
“World Vision! A contribution from a non-governmental agency in fulfilling governmental responsibilities, to deliver on the promises we make to our people especially as politicians,” Oulanyah said.

Bravo
“When there was war in northern Uganda…there are things we point out that World Vision provided, be it the bore holes, be it classrooms, World Vision gave them to people…where there is a problem, they go.”
A number of World Vision Uganda projects are aligned towards alleviating the suffering of children orphaned by war, disease and malnutrition.

The focus
At the function, the UN resident coordinator, Ms Rosa Malango, challenged government and non-governmental agencies to put the future of children at the forefront of their programmes.

World Vision Uganda national coordinatorGilbert Kamara said the three-decade World Vision in Uganda fete “is for celebrating lives of people who have been touched and transformed by their services.”
“We are looking at how much we have done as we celebrate but we are also concerned about the future,” Mr Kamara said.
