Kampala. In this age of people developing a software application almost every day, some are using the opportunity to come up with an app for everything. The latest is a group of youth who may be taking advantage of the 2016 elections and have created an App on President Museveni.
The Museveni Mobile Application allows subscribers to receive information regarding the President, ranging from political to private information such as his likes and dislikes.
The group comprised of six youth, named Baana ba Sevo, say they got their inspiration from the fact that many youth do not know their President, and therefore rely on “biased information” which they find everywhere.
“This App is built under the theme, “Get to know your best candidate” where the President’s profile, history, achievements over the years and also what he envisions for the country during his next term in office will be shared,” Mr Eddie Mugulusi, a member of the team, explained.
During the App’s launch in Kampala, Mr Timothy Engena, one of the App developers, said it took them a year to develop the App at a cost of Shs5m.
On whether there were contributions from the President’s office, Mr Engena said it has thus far been a personal venture with his friends.
The youth who developed the app are Mr Mugulusi, Mr Lawrence Mawerere, Mr Michael Kakande, Mr Silas Kato, Mr Louis Musimami, Mr Engena and Mr Tony Kizito.
