His Highness the Aga Khan yesterday became the first Muslim non-head of state to make an address to a joint session of the senate and the house of commons of the Parliament of Canada. Only five individuals outside heads of state have been offered this privilege. Thus becoming the first religious leader to do so.

The Aga Khan made a key note address in which he hinted on a number of global issues including the role of relations between the countries and cultures of Islam, quality education, civil society and Unity among the human race.
