Dr Madhuku said the latest draft constitution did little to curb the president’s powers.

He said despite increasing the number of MPs from the current 210 to 350, the draft did not empower parliament.

“Despite a huge size, Parliament remains very weak,” Dr Madhuku said.

“It is just a talk shop. The political parties are just creating employment for their supporters at the expense of the people.”

Zimbabwe is using a constitution that was adopted at independence in 1980 that has been amended 19 times.
