Vision 2040: Anything is possible
Posted Sunday, May 12 2013 at 01:00
The National Planning Authority (NPA) recently released vision 2040, to the skepticism of a number of Ugandans but I think it is a very feasible vision if we choose to passionately pursue it. Africa must shade off the remnants of self pity and embrace progressive mindsets in all aspects; in thinking and action.
Many could be discontented with the current status quo in this nation because of the many past unsuccessful projects like bona Bagagawale or Naads, but I believe that these same failures can be exploited and used in building a winning poverty alleviation programme.
We need to raise our consciousness to the fact that, like human beings, nations sometimes fail many times before striking success in their attempts to transform themselves, though one notable thing about their stories is that they never give up.
A case in point is China which evolved from past failures to build a very strong economy that is now the envy of the world. The Ugandan government may have still failed to pull off an economic miracle but let not our hopes go down because of such a trivial thing of the past.
Instead of playing down every other effort fronted by the government basing on what has failed before, let us just pick up our tools and begin the work of progress.
Some moments in a lifetime of a nation call for a coherent effort as certain feats are difficult to achieve when only a few individuals are participating.
Each individual must play their parts in all their capacities whether employed in the civil service or the private sector.
Vision 2040 is definitely not a responsibility of the government alone but every Ugandan and I would encourage us to study it and start to figure out what they can do to advance the implementation of the vision.
Uganda cannot become the ideal beautiful nation unless we deliberately and passionately choose to make it what we desire it to be. I promise to play my part, how about you?
As a nation, let us never give up our right to dream big dreams and ruthlessly experimenting with different things until the nation discovers its own niche for transformation. Let us embrace vision 2040 and work together to realize it…we could as well hack our way to prosperity before 2040. Anything is possible to a determined nation
