I pray that God guides security agencies in their work

I salute the police, army and all security agencies in Uganda. I was born in the current regime, but I have read Uganda’s history since independence in books, including Sowing The Mustered Seed by Yoweri Museveni and The Fall Of Idi Amin Dada by Maj Bernard Rwehururu.

These books talk about political turmoil of the time, for example, insecurity, tribal wars, different rebel groups, tribalism, killing of civilians, etc.

However, with the professionalisation of UPDF, things seem to be changing for the better. I have seen engineers, lawyers, doctors, etc, join the current army.

I think it is what the President longed for and he has achieved it. Regarding the police, I highly commend them for keeping law and order. When I see men in uniform, I admire them and I say God protect them in all that they do.

I have walked many times from western Uganda to the border of Busia for more than six years, but I never saw any roadblock.

I have also witnessed growth of infrastructure - road, power dams, etc, across the country and that is good

However, I am not happy with the way some people are brutally arrested in public. Refer to last week’s violent arrest of Yusuf Kawooya near Christ the King Church in Kampala by gun-wielding men in casual wear.

Good enough, those gunmen have been arrested. I pray that God protects our country to remain peaceful by guiding Ugandan security agencies to work professionally.
