In a period of two months Ugandans have seen many acts of impunity and misconduct by officials of the UPDF.

The first was when a UPDF soldier shot three people, including his wife and injured another. This was attributed to domestic violence as he accused his wife of not accounting for the money he had been sending her.

Then the Mbuya barracks raid and then more recently, the shooting at Bombo. These incidents may cause Ugandans to worry about the general conduct and professionalism of the UPDF as an institution.

My appeal to the government is that the rising insecurity and impunity is serious and should not be taken lightly.

The solution lies in tackling the real cause not the symptoms by addressing fundamental questions such as the political situation of this
country .
