Does anyone care about the increasing number of street children?

I am concerned about the continuous and steady stream of young Karimojong children to the streets of Kampala and other towns. No sooner does KCCA and other authorities remove these children from the streets, than a new and even bigger lot emerges.

Who and what is behind this new kind of human trafficking? What is the stand of the Karamoja MPs on this issue? Why haven’t I heard any of them raising the issue of these children as a matter of national concern in Parliament? For goodness sake, the future of Karamoja and Uganda will be better served if these children are in schools rather than on the streets!

I have been told that one reason why the Karimojong children are flocking Kampala is to search for the billions of shillings meant to develop Karamoja, but which they have learnt instead remain in Kampala! They believe that once in Kampala, they may easily access these funds even though this is a pipe dream. May, I request any Good Samaritan, to kindly direct these children to the OPM for any possible assistance.
