Exam malpractices need urgent redress

On October 23, I leant from the Daily Monitor quote of the day that the Uganda National Examination Board (Uneb) is keeping a taut watch on top schools. “We want to see less cases of exam cheating”. Uneb Chairman Fagil Mandy said. In his statement, Mr Mandy agrees that they can’t totally prevent examination malpractices but they can only reduce them!
No parent would wish to take their children to poor performing schools so in an effort to attract more customers (pupils), school administrations ensure that their children pass irrespective of the knowledge imparted to them. As a form of sales promotion, schools even offer persuasive but wrong results to the media for publication. No parent would wish his child to just pass examinations but with an empty head. So teachers, teach pupils well.
