In Summary

A lot has been said about him by different people and a lot more will be said but I could summarise all of it by calling him ‘a committed chaplain.

In December 2013, Msgr Lawrence Kanyike officially announced that his contract with Makerere University, as chaplain, would be ending and that he would be leaving the chaplaincy in January 2014.

As he moves on to Kyengera Parish for his next assignment, we look back at his 30 years of service at St. Augustine chapel.

A lot has been said about him by different people and a lot more will be said but I could summarise all of it by calling him ‘a committed chaplain.

Fr Kanyike was indeed committed to his work as chaplain and has taught and challenged all of us to be committed to our work.

He looked for funds from his benefactors abroad to build the structures namely the chaplaincy (offices and residence), the students’ centre and expansion of the chapel.

His happiest moments were when he was around students.
We thank you very much for all you have done for this community. St Augustine will eternally be grateful to you for your contribution to the chaplaincy. May be the good Lord bless you abundantly in your new assignment.

Assistant Chaplain
