Government, stop taking drivers for granted

URA should consider driving permit holders as professionals like other technocrats in different fields like doctors, teachers, engineers and nurses. Drivers also go through driving schools and pay fees like any other student in a vocational Institution.
When these students at these institutions complete their courses and get certificates, they do not pay renewal charges like drivers do except when upgrading.
My concern is on why drivers are being cheated and made to pay every three years to URA?
If prostitutes are petitioning Parliament to listen to their call to be accepted as professionals, then why not we the drivers? Government should level the ground and stop taking drivers for granted.
Today’s drivers are not like those of the earlier years, they are academically better placed. They are professionals in whose hands people’s lives are placed. I request government to keenly look into the plight of drivers.
