Include citizens in the plan for Kampala

The Minister for Kampala, Mr Frank Tumwebaze seems to have a passion for the development of the city. And he is more than eager to offer KCCA chief technocrat, Jennifer Musisi, powers over our capital that would make yester-years colonial administrators blush with envy in their graves.
For they never had such powers in colonial Kampala Town Council.
Then, Council was run by non-salaried racial minority stakeholders. And independence, more so under President Museveni and the NRM, empowered the Wananchi with democratic rights earned through struggle and blood.
Removing these rights require our consent through a referendum. To paraphrase Malcom X, “nothing should be done in our name without our involvement.”
Kampalans are quite educated, rational citizens, and not mere gullible spectators or colonial subjects. Moreover popular involvement, defines the spirit of our cherished 1995 Constitution.
