A few weeks ago, I wrote an article comparing the Public Order and Security Act of 1967 and the Public and Order management Act 2013.

Today I am comparing the brutal assault of a city Advocate Abdalluh Kiwanuka, when he had gone to serve an injunctive court order during the impeachment proceedings of Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

Those who watched the TV footage of his arrest on November 25 will agree with me that the scenes were almost identical to the scenes when Idi Amin’s soldiers dragged Ben Kiwanuka the then Chief Justice from the temple of justice at Kampala High Court buildings, whisked him away , never to be seen alive again.

Both, Kiwanukas stood for justice and suffered for it. Are we sliding back to the days when the rule of law was no more?
