It is human that the loss of a relative causes so much pain and grief. However, at the age of 96, it’s only fair that Ugandans celebrate the life of Mzee Amos Kaguta rather than grieve.

It was Kaguta’s seed that brought to birth the peace that we are enjoying today. Such was the role that President Museveni’s father played in grooming a future leader. This is not to mention the role of Mzee Kaguta’s other children, notably Salim Saleh, who has equally made a special mark towards the stabilisation of Uganda.

Human life is like a relay race. I am sure prior to his death, Mzee Kaguta could look back and see a formidable team of competent runners down to the third generation who would continue to carry high his family flag. I join the Kaguta family in celebrating the life of one of the country’s most senior citizens.
