Let’s know Uganda belongs to all of us

When Kenya President Arap Moi first visited Uganda after the NRM came to power, he didn’t come to Kampala, but remained, I think in Tororo. When he was asked why he had chosen to visit in a town that was nearer the Kenyan boarder instead of braving it to Kampala, he joked: “when a kid is learning how to swim, he/she starts with the shallow end”.
But when he gets used, he eventually dares the deeper end. I wish to thank Dr Kizza Besigye and other opposition leaders who honoured the invitations for the independence anniversary celebrations.
Now that they were invited to the celebrations in Rukungiri, the shallow end, let them also be invited to celebrations and other functions in Kololo, the deeper end, and other parts of the country. And when they come, we should avoid making statements that make them feel humiliated!
Uganda belongs to all of us and an extra mile should be made to make everybody feel at home, our political differences not withstanding.
