Look at the issue of iPads objectively

I have listened to a lot of debate on the iPads for MPs with, of course, many opposing the idea even without giving the basic reason for their argument or suggesting a better alternative.
Most of the arguments have been based on the cost of the iPads and nothing else. Parliament spends about Shs2.5b a year in stationery; this includes printing of Bills and reports. This leaves adverse effects on our environment.
In five years, Parliament will have to spend about Shs12.2b on stationery and yet only Shs1b is needed for iPads which will last till the expiry of the term for an MP.
Isn’t this feasible, isn’t this saving public money? To those against this; will the Shs12.2b against the Shs1b be saving taxpayers’ money? Of course by the direction of common sense, the iPads will save public money.
I therefore call for objectivity as we look at this matter of the iPads.
