Bride price return should be prohibited by Law. This can be done by amending the Domestic Violence Act 2010 to criminalise the practise.

Similarly, marital rape can be criminalised under the same Act. Cohabitation should be on the basis of ‘Voluntary assumption of risk’ where the rights of concerned parties are not protected unless they fulfil the obligation to formalise the relationship.
