Mr President, many State House staff are making money

President Museveni

The President for ”rent” made in the Pearl of Africa syndrome has been on for a long time. And for the President’s humble information, many a staff at State House have made a big killing - some of whose bank accounts could be fatter than his (President’s). The listeners and viewers were only surprised that the President was surprised about the existence of the vice around him.

The latest press conference held at State House on September 15 was warm, cordial and the President was jovial - an environment which provided journalists the confidence to act as true representatives of the voiceless and angry population. Of particular mention, are the three journalists, including the one who boldly drew the attention of the President that people (investors and otherwise) who seek to meet him are asked to pay through the nose to access him.
Another queried why the President always criticises only the police whenever there are security lapse in the country, yet he treats RDCs with kid cloves in spite of the fact that they are the chairpersons of security committees at the districts.

The third journalist accused the police of ignoring public information by asking irrelevant questions hence scaring the would-be information givers.
Interestingly for me, for the time I lived and studied in Kenya (Kenya Utalii College), I was among college students who were able to meet then powerful president Daniel arap Moi for free even when I was a foreigner, with appointments initiated by Moi’s junior State House catering staff we were studying with.
