Murder is inhumane; can never be justified

What you need to know:

  • Uganda Peoples Congress calls upon all Ugandans not to forget the fact that we shall all account to God.

Whereas the unfortunate murder of Andrew Felix Kaweesi and two other police officers caused shock, fear and has generated debate, and whereas the right to life has an overwhelming value in our community that overshadows all the arguments, Uganda Peoples Congress believes that right to life is inherent in the human person created in the image of God.
It is our considered opinion that killing a human being can not be used to reach or address any particular purpose or revenge with a view of giving a lesson to the dead or to others or even repair a disrupted order. It is in itself evil and inhuman. Therefore, to use an intrinsically evil action to reach a good end is to indulge in the Machiavellian principle that the end justifies the means.
Jesus said; ‘Do to others what you would like others to do to you’.

We call upon the killers to reflect and reserve time to consider the fact that human beings are only a reflection of God’s love that must not be abused because even the apparently wanted culprits have parents, children, wives and relatives who can equally feel the pain those affected families are going through as soon as they are apprehended by the long arm of the law.
We, therefore, condemn in the strongest terms any act of lawlessness being perpetuated by planners of that unfortunate execution in broad day light.
Uganda Peoples Congress calls upon all Ugandans not to forget the fact that we shall all account to God.
