I have been sponsoring my daughter at the East African School of Library and Information Science Makerere University since 2008 for a Masters of Science in Information Science but up to now, the school administration has failed to communicate whether she will graduate or not. When I checked the list of students who are graduating in that programme there were only two students.
This is the only school which offers the said course in East Africa and due to this monopoly, they have continued to delay students on the Masters programme by not marking dissertations. Furthermore, it is alleged that all trained staff were laid off and now the school is employing causal staff who lack the required experience.
Due to challenges at this school, many professors and doctors have left the school for greener pastures.
I call upon the stakeholders of Makerere University to probe the school.
