Public transport system must be opened up to other investors

There is no doubt that the existence of Pioneer Easy buses was a blessing not only to the low income earners but also the rich because they all use the same roads.
One wonders how those in leadership can undermine the public transport system and still dream of development. Uganda is the only country where people just sleep and dream that development will be attained without proper plans.
The transport system in this city can be streamlined if there is will by those in leadership. Why should we have commuter taxis yet investors are willing to invest in buses that can carry more people. Please open up the sector. The problem is that we don’t want to plan for and implement good policies.
Why should we outsource only one company which is unable to pay taxes? In the end, we have double jeopardy; no taxes paid, congestion on our roads, wastage of valuable time in traffic jam ,loss of jobs i.e both directly and indirectly, higher transport costs to mention but a few. We must work hard at improving our transport system. This can be done. It is not rocket science.
