I am a public civil servant and a concerned resident of Nansana who wishes to commend Pioneer Easy Bus company for responding to the request to bring back the bus service to our area.

Only two weeks after they started operation, Easy Buses opted to cancel the routes to Nansana-Yesu-amala due to reasons best known to the company; this affected the passengers as taxi operators took advantage and hiked the transport fares.

Taxis charge Shs1500 for 4KM yet Pioneer Easy bus charges Shs1000. It is also really annoying the way taxi operators treat passengers. Some drivers together with their conductors have a habit of mistreating passengers by abusing them and robbing them of valuable items like phones, a case which should be urgently addressed by the government through the passengers’ association body.

Although Pioneer Easy bus has restored services to this route, passengers should be notified of the exact point where the buses park to avoid confusion.

Government has to invest in public transport under the public private partnership as one solution to the burden of traffic jam and passenger extortion.
