We must honour our heroes even when they are long gone

Whether Nelson Mandela’s this legacy will be cherished and preserved by his nation remains concealed. Let’s see the fate of some heroes in our country.
Philly Bongoley Lutaaya was a secular musician who sensitised and mobilised the nation in the fight against the spread of HIV/Aids and stigma against victims.
President Museveni and the late Dr Samson Kiseka were emboldened by Lutaya’s stance to launch campaigns through adverts and rallies, and Uganda became a world’s success story in the Aids war. 24 years down the road, the nation has forgotten about Lutaaya’s message.
It is duped by ARVs, circumcision and condoms to ignore abstinence and faithfulness yet the disease still has no cure.
