KAMPALA.

The Go Forward team has gone on a search for Mr Amama Mbabazi’s head of security team, Mr Christopher Aine who they say went missing on Thursday morning.

Ms Josephine Mayanja Nkangi, Mr Mbabazi’s spokesperson, told Daily Monitor that Mr Aine was picked from his home in Kyanja at 6am. She said that those who picked him couldn’t explain why they were arresting Mr Aine, adding that they were later informed that he has been taken away by the flying squad team.

“We are trying to get in touch with Police to ask them why they arrested Mr Aine but they are denying. We are doing everything possible to see that we get a hold of him.” Ms Nkangi said.
However, Police Spokesperson, Mr Fred Enanga, scoffed at those peddling information that Police has arrested Mr Aine, arguing that Police works in a lawful way and that it can’t arrest people anyhow.

“Those who are saying that Police have arrested Mr Mbabazi’s body guard are totally wrong. Why would Police arrest him? Since we have also been told about his disappearance, we shall investigate the manner in which he disappeared but holding police responsible would be wrong,” said Mr Enanga.

Human Rights Lawyer, Mr Ladislaus Rwakafuzi, said this is intended to scare away Mr Mbabazi’s supporters to support the incumbent. He castigated government for failing to investigate such cases, arguing that this case will continue happening since the incumbent is not bothered to condemn such acts.

While addressing Ntungamo residents on Sunday, following fights between Mr Mbabazi’s supporters and those of Mr Museveni, the IGP said that he would arrest the security team of Mr Mbabazi, arguing that they are a militia group intended to create confusion. He said that the fighting would have been avoided if Mr Mbabazi had moved with only the guards that the Electoral Commission gave him.

On September 12, at an incident at Kazimingi Industrial Park in Jinja Municipality, Mr Aine with others at large reportedly assaulted two Police officers while executing their duties and was arrested.

Mr Aine was charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstructing police officers on duty and escaping from safe custody, before Jinja Grade 1 magistrate, Ms Immaculate Nyamwenge. He was later released on a cash bail of Shs 500,000.
