Mbabazi declared duly nominated presidential candidate

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mr Badru Kiggundu has declared former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi as a duly nominated presidential candidate.
Mr Kiggundu who doubles as the EC returning officer for presidential nominations on Tuesday declared Mr Mbabazi a presidential candidate at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole after Kitgum woman MP Beatrice Anywar (FDC member) and Ms Rosette Nsonga nominated the GoForward flag bearer for the 2016 presidential elections.
Shortly after his nomination, Mr Mbabazi said he intends to bring about change in the country.

“I’m happy that I’m now officially a presidential candidate for the 2016 elections. From today onwards, Uganda will be taken to a different level in terms of politics and the way we run campaigns. Our primary mission is to bring about change,” he said.
“I’m also happy that I have been nominated after Mr Museveni. This is how things will be. Our people are yearning for change and I don't think anything will stop it,” noted Mbabazi attracting applause from the crowd.
Mr Mbabazi is now headed to Nakivubo stadium where he is expected to address a rally and launch his campaign.
After Mr Mbabazi, former Makerere University VC Prof Venansius Baryamureeba (Independent) will be nominated at 12pm.
