Chemutai set for IAAF Doha diamond league

Uganda's Albert Chemutai will take part in the IAAF Doha Diamond League on Friday night.

Mr Dominic Otuchet, the president of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) confirmed that Chemutai got an opportunity and was invited for the Doha event.

"This presents another opportunity for Chemutai to get more exposure," Mr Otuchet said.

The 18-year old Chemutai will take part in the 3000 steeplechase race.

"I want to try and improve on my time in Doha after the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games," said Chemutai early this week.

He will however face the strong Ethiopian duo; Amare Hailemariyan and Bego Chala, together with Kenya's Clement Kemboi and Barnabas Kipyego.

Uganda's double gold medal winner at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei pulled out of the IAAF Doha Diamond League because he needed a rest.

Cheptegi will instead take part in the Diamond League in Eugene.
