Second gold for Uganda as Chesang beats Ndiwa to win Women’s 10KM category

Stella Chesang is the second athlete to win gold for Uganda after emerging winner of the athletics women's 10 000m final.
Mercyline Chelangat also won bronze after she emerged third in the athletics women's 10 000m final during the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games at the Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast on April 9, 2018.

Chesang sprinted to finish ahead of Kenya’s Stacy Ndiwa in the 10KM women’s category.

Ndiwa had been leading for the better part of the race as her compatriot Beatrice Mutai came in second. Chesang kept on and off from Ndiwa but apparently had her winning formular cut out to beat the competition to the finish line.
This is the second time Uganda has raced for gold ahead of Kenya, with the first being Joshua Cheptegei’s win in the men’s 5000M race on Sunday.
