Commonwealth: Muhoozi tips Goldcoast-bound athletes

Well done: Sports minister Bakkabulindi, UOC’s Don Rukare and Maj Gen Muhoozi

KAMPALA. “Go to Australia with tenacity, never say die attitude, resilience and the spirit of sportsmanship that represents the Ugandan character,” Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba told the athletes as they prepare for the trip to Gold Coast next month.
This was at a dinner organized by the Deputy Australian High Commissioner Jonathan Ball to commemorate the Commonwealth Day, which is celebrated by former British colonies. This year, Australia hosted the celebrations since it’s the host of the Commonwealth Games where Uganda will be represented by 69 athletes in 11 sports.

While speaking at the dinner, Muhoozi, the First Son and Presidential Advisor, reminded the athletes of how they carry the hopes of the youth in the country. “As you compete remember that you are a source of incontestable inspiration to the youth and the country,” he observed.
Still at the function, the official games kit for Team Uganda was launched and athletes of different disciplines showed off their outfit.
Some of the sports that were represented include rugby, squash and shooting team plus athletes of field and track.
