Golola for Kampala Archdiocese race

Kick boxer Moses Golola (pictured) will be the center of attraction when the second Archdiocese of Kampala Road Race takes center stage this Saturday.
The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga is scheduled to flag off the race. The run, which is sponsored by Centenary Bank and Statewide Insurance Company, starts at 7am at Pope Paul VI Memorial Hotel in Ndeeba and has attracted an estimated 5000 runners.
The race divided into two categories. There is a ‘keep fit’ 5km category and the main event is a 15km event. According to Richard Kiwanuka, the chairman of the organising committee, the aim of the road race is to help raise funds for the development and promotion of sports in the Archdiocese of Kampala.
“We are also looking to mobilise youth for their spiritual welfare,” said Kiwanuka. Entrance to the race is Shs5000 and while the winner of the competitive category will walk away with Shs1m. The runner-up will take home Shs0.5m whereas the third-placed finisher will pocket Shs250,000.
