In a bid to restore the vegetation cover that has been destroyed as a result of human activities in Gulu District, Community Empowerment Education Development (CEED) on Saturday took the lead in organizing Gulu Go Green Marathon that attracted 360 runners.

The marathon with the theme: Conserve now, guarantee tomorrow; saw several tree seedlings given to participants to plant in their homes.

The runners competed in five and ten kilometers within Gulu Municipality.

A total of 40 schools were handed several tree species including fruit and hard wood tree seedlings that will act as wind breakers when fully grown.

State Minister for northern Uganda, Ms Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, participated in the run and thereafter lauded CEED for their attitude and committment towards restoration of the environment in the district.
