Inzikuru surprise guest at KHC Family Day

KAMPALA. Dorcus Inzikuru was an unexpected but welcome guest at the Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) Friends and Family event, organized to digress from a grueling sporting season, in Lugogo on Sunday.
In 2005, Inzikuru ended Uganda’s 33-year wait or an athletics world title when she won the inaugural women’s 3000m steeplechase in Finland. She followed it up with more gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Inzikuru’s story is one that inspires many Ugandan sportsmen and women alike – even more a hockey side like KHC whose men’s side are joint top and in the thick of competing for a maiden national league title in nine years of existence.
Such was the muse on the minds of KHC Swans players Desire Mukisa and Sandra Namusoke, when they invited the former world champion and their classmate in the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC)-sponsored Advanced Sports Managemenet Course (ASMC), for the day under the theme “#KHCFnF, whom will you bring?”
An all-smiles Inzikuru joined the KHC players, their friends and relatives in letting their hair down on the day as she freely interacted, took selfies, embraced the sack race and promised “to create time in her busy schedule to play hockey.”
