Panamanian runner Rolanda Bell caused a splash in Beijing on Monday – tumbling head first into the water jump.
Bell was taking part in the 3000m women’s steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships in China when she misjudged the jump and landed head first in the water.

The 27-year-old picked herself up to finish the heat following her fall, but unsurprisingly failed to qualify for the final, which takes place today, as she finished 20 seconds behind Katerina Doseykina in last place.

Bell, who lives in New York, took to Twitter to after the race to give fans an update. She wrote: ‘Thank you to Panama for all the support for our team this year.’ All three of the heats were incredibly close, but there were no other shocks as the fancied runners all made it through.
